I have taught Special Education in several districts in both the state of Kansas and Missouri. I have taught in both inclusive and special education settings. I have worked with grades k-12 in the public school setting and have worked to transition students into the 18-21 education setting. I have worked in two private schools for ages 18 months to 5th grade. I have specialized in areas of Learning Disabilities, Inclusion, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. I have been in the school setting for 13 years.

In addition, I have consulted with a company, The Master Teacher, INC to edit, review, and create professional development and observation tools for educators and paraprofessionals from 2016- Current.

In addition, I have received training from TASN Summer Institute for 4 years. TASN-ATBS provides training and coaching to educators in supporting students with the most complex and/or challenging behavioral needs.

Purpose:

My purpose for starting this company comes from the love of working with students and families with disabilities. I believe I was given this talent to help others, especially in this field. I want to be able to help families with kids or adults with disabilities find their way through transitioning into school age, out of school age, and into life as an adult. I want to support these families and individuals with disabilities in creating supports, attending meetings, helping find resources, and help find resources to create a life that will allow them to live at their fullest potential. I look forward to working with many more great families in addition to the ones I have already worked with in my 13 years in this field.

History:

I received my Bachelors of Science in Education with a Major in Special Education as a Learning and Behavior Specialist from Illinois State University in 2013. I am currently completing my Masters of Science in Secondary Special Education and Transition at the University of Kansas.

I have taught Special Education in districts both in the state of Illinois and Kansas. I have worked primarily in secondary settings in both inclusive and special education settings. I have worked in classrooms that focus on self-determination and have a transition based curriculum. I have also worked with students with low-incidence and high-incidence disabilities. My education background has a strong emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis, Structured Teaching, and Transition.

I have also worked as an inclusion-aid for students with disabilities in the general education setting and as a respite provider for families with children with disabilities. I have implemented programs within the home and helped develop structure and communication in this setting. I have also spent 2 weeks every summer, for 10 years, volunteering at Camp SOAR, an overnight camp for students with significant disabilities.

In addition, I have consulted with a company, The Master Teacher, INC to edit, review, and create professional development and observation tools for educators and paraprofessionals.

I have also received training from TASN Summer Institute for 5 years. TASN-ATBS provides training and coaching to educators in supporting students with the most complex and/or challenging behavioral needs.

Purpose:

My purpose for starting this company comes from the joy I get when I see individuals with disabilities as successful adults with a great quality of life. I seek to help families find the most purposeful supports at a young age, to help carry them through adulthood. In my years of experience, I have attended meetings, implemented behavior programs, taught job-related skills and have helped transition students to both 18-21 programs, and adult programs. I want to continue to impact families by helping them through the many stages of transition and supporting them in their home lives. I look forward to meeting more families and working alongside them to ensure a great quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
